Malfeasant City Officials??

National radio talk show host, Bruce Williams, discusses the Fairfield City Council and Mayor's (and the City Administrator's) actions concerning the subdivision & sidewalk ordinances.... you be the judge

Fairfield, Iowa - The city of 2 standards - and a GREAT PLACE

Comments:
Bruce Williams did NOT say the city officials were guilty of malfeasance. He said that if what you said is true, if there is a law that says "must have sidewalks" and they knew about that law and then they ignored it, then that is malfeasance. Bruce only had your word to go on with regards to what they have or have not actually done and what the law does or does not actually say.

However, the city has the option of granting zoning variances, at their discretion, so the whole basis of your claim of illegality goes up in smoke.

Finally, haven't you noticed that that there are sidewalks all over the place? Your complaint about "no sidewalks" is a terrible exaggeration of the reality.

Why do you hate Fairfield so much?

"However, the city has the option of granting zoning variances, at their discretion...."

NOT TRUE - you obviously have not read the ordinance....

Haven't you noticed that there are sidewalks missing all over town?

Haven't you noticed that city officials who are in a position to address this matter of missing sidewalks, instead defiantly avoid doing so?

Haven't you noticed that these same city officials are aggressively forcing expensive sidewalk repair and even complete replacement costs indiscriminately around town?

Haven't you noticed that certain subdivisions that do not meet lot size requirements for consideration of a sidewalk waiver, still do not have sidewalks as required by law?

I love Fairfield, but I am disappointed and sad in a lack of humble, and thoughtful leadership.
